Tips & Tricks for your new EQU StreamZ bands
We have a few tips and tricks for your recent purchase of EQU StreamZ advanced bio-resonance horse bands. Please take a couple of minutes to read through this information in preparation for your bands arriving.
It is worth reminding you that EQU StreamZ introduce 'Advanced Bio-Resonance Therapy Technology' and as such instructions differ to traditional static or neodymium magnetic products.

Fitting Instructions
Each horse wears two bands, one on any two legs – results have been found to be the same with bands placed on both front or hind legs, or in any combination. At this point it is worth reminding you how StreamZ are not traditional magnets; StreamZ unique energy field rebalances the system. With this in mind, worn on any two legs the ‘rebalancing effect’ is established across the system.
Remember: StreamZ provides systemic, full-body coverage.
To provide consistency throughout clinical studies the bands were placed on the near fore and off hind of all animals. Results cited from these studies therefore support use on the near fore and off hind. Ultimately, every horse is different and the bands can be placed on any leg which suits that specific horse.
The legs should be thoroughly clean prior to fitting. Open the tongue on the sleeve of the band and wrap the band around the cannon bone. Leave a space just less than a fingers width between the band and the horses skin, tight enough so they do not spin around the leg but not too tight!
Once wrapped around the leg, attach the 'fixing tab' into place and then firmly press the 'tongue' against the side of the band; ensuring to press the two pieces firmly together. Use both hands to press the tongue into place. Ensure the tongue is attached evenly and make sure the tongue is not in contact with the skin.
Using the Bands
The technology is designed to be worn for a minimum of 8 hours a day although results have been reported as significantly greater when used 24/7.
EQU StreamZ are designed to be used in most weather conditions however “24/7 use” refers to the technology and does not indicate the bands can be left on in all weather conditions or whilst out hacking. When the ground is soft and the horse is turned out the bands should be placed above the fetlock joint and out of the soft ground. Care and attention and a level of common-sense is required for the bands to last; as with any other tack product. See care details below.

Wearing for the first time? Check out our tips for using on sensitive-skinned horses and establish whether gradual build up of the bands is required on that specific horse.
TIP – to retain longevity of use the bands should be washed and cleaned on a weekly basis. Velcro hooks and loops should be cleaned by hand and not with a strong brush as this can damage the material. Bands which are not cared for will unlikely last 12 months and as with any tack used outside on horses require consistent maintenance.

Wearing During Box Rest (Minimum 8 Hours Per Day Recommended)
When your horse is stabled, resting or on box rest, EQU StreamZ bands can be positioned below the fetlock joint, around the pastern. This is our preferred position during periods of rest, when there is less movement around the joint.
The bands can also be worn above the fetlock, around the cannon bone, depending on your horse's individual needs and comfort.
We recommend a minimum of 8 hours of daily use as part of a consistent routine, although EQU StreamZ bands are suitable for longer periods, including 24/7 wear, with appropriate care and regular checks.
Wearing During Turnout (Including 24/7 Use)
EQU StreamZ bands are suitable for continuous wear, but particular attention should be paid to their positioning and ground conditions during turnout.
For turnout, always position the bands ABOVE the fetlock joint, around the cannon bone. This helps reduce movement around the bands and the likelihood of them becoming submerged in soft or muddy ground.
As a useful guide, the top of the fetlock joint on an average 16–16.2hh horse is approximately 15–20cm above ground level.
The StreamZ material itself can withstand mud and water, provided it is regularly cleaned and properly maintained. However, leaving wet or muddy equipment against a horse's skin for prolonged periods can contribute to rubbing, irritation and other skin problems.
Always remove the bands if ground conditions are likely to cause them to become partially or fully submerged. In muddy conditions, regular cleaning and careful inspection of both the bands and your horse's skin are particularly important.
For extra security, our EQU StreamZ Turnout Strips provide an additional layer of fastening. They also feature reflective material to help improve visibility in certain low-light conditions. They are particularly useful for horses turned out for extended periods or in larger paddocks.
IMPORTANT: TURNOUT AND MUDDY CONDITIONS
On an average-sized horse (approximately 16–16.2hh), the top of the fetlock joint is typically around 15–20cm above ground level. This provides a useful guide when assessing whether ground conditions are suitable for wearing EQU StreamZ bands.
EQU StreamZ bands are suitable for use in muddy conditions, and the material itself can withstand exposure to mud and water, provided the bands are regularly cleaned and properly maintained.
However, as with any equestrian tack, leaving muddy or wet equipment against a horse's skin for prolonged periods can contribute to irritation, rubbing and other skin problems. Using EQU StreamZ bands in muddy conditions therefore requires additional care, regular cleaning and careful inspection of both the bands and the horse's skin.
If the ground is sufficiently soft or muddy that the bands could become partially or fully submerged, we recommend removing them before turnout.

Wearing on Swollen or Inflamed Legs
If your horse has swelling or inflammation in its legs, take additional care when positioning the bands.
As swelling changes, the circumference of the affected leg may reduce, potentially causing the bands to loosen or slide down.
Where possible, we recommend fitting the bands to less affected legs or positioning them away from areas of significant swelling to help maintain a secure, comfortable fit.
Inflammation is part of the body's natural response to injury or irritation, and it is important to understand its underlying cause. Persistent, unexplained or significant swelling should always be assessed by your vet.

Wearing Whilst Riding or Exercising
EQU StreamZ bands have primarily been developed for use during rest and recovery rather than demanding physical activity.
They may be worn during light exercise when correctly fitted above the fetlock, around the cannon bone, provided they remain secure and comfortable.
We recommend removing the bands for anything more than light work, particularly during faster or more demanding exercise where increased movement could cause the bands to shift.
Remember: Correct positioning, regular cleaning and sensible use will help keep your horse comfortable and maximise the lifespan of your EQU StreamZ bands.
Ongoing Care Instructions
The EQU StreamZ sleeves should be washed by hand in cold soapy water. Hot water can damage the hooks of the material so if being washed in a machine ensure it is on a cold setting. Regular cleaning the sleeves is vital to ensure longevity of the product and to retain 12-month warranty status.
We recommend washing the sleeves at least once a week. If you require anything under warranty conditions please review our separate warranty terms.
The StreamZ material strips can be removed from the sleeve prior to washing, carefully sliding from the unstitched end of the sleeve next to the tongue. Make sure the StreamZ strips are kept safely and returned to the sleeve the correct way around after washing. The 4 lines/ridges must face away from the skin, smooth side facing the skin.
"Suitable for use in all weather conditions" requires common sense.
Sensitive Skinned Horses
Like many high-performance equine boots and girths on the market, EQU StreamZ bands are manufactured using high-grade neoprene.
While the vast majority of horses wear our bands 24/7 with zero issues, a small percentage of horses—particularly those with fine coats or highly sensitive skin—can experience a localised material allergy known as contact dermatitis.
This is an individual skin reaction to the neoprene itself, not a side effect of our non-thermal technology which can occur any horse breed. If you do recognise any discomfort remove the bands.
To safeguard your horse, we highly recommend introducing the bands gradually over the first few days if the horse has a history of sensitivity issues (starting with just a few hours at a time) to monitor their skin's reaction. If they have a history of sensitivity issues; EQU StreamZ Special Edition Neoprene Sleeves may be the answer. These sleeves are neoprene free whilst being antibacterial and hypoallergenic.

Early signs that the horse may be feeling sensitive to the material are scratching at the bands, excessive foot stamping and/or showing a pink/red mark on the skin. Leaving the bands on can lead to further complications so early detection when first applying the bands is important.
PLEASE NOTE: Refunds are not issued based on individual sensitivity issues.
EQU StreamZ bands can be placed above other materials and be as effective, so, a few layers of vet wrap/bandage can be placed around the leg before the bands are fitted - if required.
If you notice any discomfort or discolouration on the skin within the first 24hrs then remove the bands. If problems persist then the neoprene bands should be removed completely.
In some cases, the StreamZ silicone strips can be removed from the outer sleeves and wrapped around the horses leg within a bandage/vet wrap, avoiding the use of our ouer sleeves. This can be of particular interest to Shetland or Mini owners who may find the outer sleeves slightly too bulky.
No refunds are issued if your horse is allergic to the material used within the bands. We understand this can be frustrating, however a horse with sensitive skin is entirely out of our control. If those same bands were used on another horse, would they create the same response?

Do you have destructive horse, a "chewer”?
Some horses will eventually learn to take the bands off—even if they’ve never removed tack before. We've even seen other horses in the paddock remove the bands off other horses legs. Try using our turnout strips or additional securing methods such as Velcro badges, and check fit regularly. Avoid overly loose fitting, as this makes removal easier.
Finding a band on the floor or paddock each morning? Often this is a sign that your horse is pulling the band(s) off. In rare cases horses have even been found to 'chew' the band ruining it in the process.
A band that is chewed is not covered under warranty, so if you do have history of the horse being destructive we hope these tips help. (Note; the StreamZ magnetic material is non-toxic if ingested)
It is not known why a small percentage of horses have been found to pull the bands off; and even to extent how they do it in the first place!? Sensitive skinned horses may simply not want anything around their legs; others might simply be being mischievous.
If you feel your horse is sensitive and disliking the bands against their skin, try a few layers of vet rap/breathable tape (even bandages) around the leg prior to fitting the bands. Remember though that most tapes will trap ambient body heat.
It has also been reported that some horses only like the bands fitted to their hind legs and placing them on the hind legs does make them harder to remove. (Remember: StreamZ provide 'full body coverage' when placed on any two legs)
No warranty is offered on any products which have been damaged or chewed by your horse. Equally, refunds are not issued if your horse "refuses to wear them".
We understand the frustration if your horse does decide to damage the bands. We ask that you appreciate that this is entirely out-of-our-control. Warranty covers defected items, not damaged items.
Our agents who you communicate your frustrations with are human beings and have processes to follow, please be courteous at all times.
If your horse continues to pull them off, after trying all these ideas, then sadly there's not much we can do. We do not offer refunds for this purpose.
Suggested Tip for Chewing Horses
It is important that before fitting the bands that you make sure the horses legs (and the inside webbing of the bands) are clean and dry.
We have three ideas which may help:
(1) Cover the bands in smelly stuff!
Horses hate the taste of bitter and sour things, which is likely a defence mechanism against toxic plants. Try making a homemade solution of various ingredients mixed with some water and spray on the bands before use. It has been reported that they'll leave the bands alone. Concoctions of cayenne pepper, garlic and citrus have been successful; as all three are well recognised as being tastes horses dislike. Alternatively, you can buy off the shelf products developed as 'no bite' formulas. Similarly, we have seen lots of comments that "Irish Spring" (soap bars) works with many horses and can be purchased online easily. Just cover the bands in the soap.
(2) Cover the bands in tape/wrap
Once the bands have been correctly fitted, wrap a few layers of vet rap/ breathable tape over the top of the bands. This should act as a 'protective barrier' and stop the horse from being able to chew and damage the bands. This tip will not fully stop a horse - if they want them off, tape wont stop that. Caution when using any type of tape as ambient heat will be captured by tape. (see image below using red vet rap)
(3) Use Overreach or brushing boots
In some cases the only way to protect the bands from being chewed or damaged is to place overreach or Brushing Boots on top of the bands. If doing this, pay attention to heat build up in summer months and never use magnetic or ceramic boots.
EQU StreamZ – Troubleshooting & Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the magnetic strips poking out of my EQU StreamZ bands?
EQU StreamZ bands feature removable magnetic strips housed inside protective outer sleeves. The sleeves have an open end by design, allowing the strips to be inserted during assembly and removed when the sleeves require washing.
Occasionally, a magnetic strip may become slightly exposed at the opening. If this happens, simply slide it back inside the sleeve before fitting the band to your horse.
When correctly fitted, the bands wrap securely around the horse's leg, helping to keep the internal strips in position.
Important: Missing or lost magnetic strips are not covered under our warranty, as accidental loss is not a manufacturing defect. Replacement magnetic strips are not sold separately, but please contact our support team if you need assistance.
Tip: If a strip appears to be missing, check around stable doors, grooming areas and inside your washing machine. These are places where strips can occasionally be misplaced when the bands are removed or cleaned.
What should I do if my EQU StreamZ outer sleeves become damaged?
The outer neoprene sleeves are designed to protect the internal StreamZ magnetic strips during everyday use. However, like other equestrian equipment, they can become damaged through rubbing, snagging, chewing or general wear.
Accidental damage and normal wear are not covered under our warranty, although manufacturing defects are assessed separately.
Fortunately, replacement outer sleeves are available, so you don't necessarily need to replace the complete bands.

My horse has sensitive skin. Can EQU StreamZ bands cause rubbing?
As with any equipment worn against a horse's skin, some horses may experience rubbing or sensitivity, particularly if they have delicate skin or the bands are worn in wet or muddy conditions.
Ensure the legs are clean before fitting and check that the Velcro fastening and sleeve edges are not rubbing against the skin.
For horses with particularly sensitive skin, consider our specialist sensitive sleeves or a suitable protective layer beneath the bands, provided this does not compromise the fit.
If irritation develops, remove the bands and allow the skin to recover before considering further use. Persistent irritation should be discussed with your vet.
Are EQU StreamZ bands suitable for grey horses or horses with white legs?
Yes. EQU StreamZ bands can be worn by horses of any coat colour, including greys and horses with white legs.
However, some horses with pink skin beneath white hair may be particularly sensitive to friction or prolonged contact with certain materials.
Coat colour alone does not determine whether a horse will experience sensitivity. Correct fitting, clean equipment and regular skin checks are important for every horse.
How many hours a day should my horse wear EQU StreamZ bands?
We recommend wearing EQU StreamZ bands for a minimum of 8 hours per day as part of a consistent routine.
The bands are also suitable for extended wear, including 24/7 use, provided they are correctly fitted, regularly checked and removed when necessary for cleaning and skin inspection.
Our recommendation is to maintain a consistent routine rather than frequently changing how and when the bands are worn.
How long does it take to notice results from EQU StreamZ bands?
Every horse is different, and individual experiences with EQU StreamZ can vary.
Some customers report noticing changes within a relatively short period, while others describe more gradual observations over several weeks.
We generally encourage customers to allow 30–60 days of consistent use when assessing their horse's individual response, although this is guidance rather than a guaranteed timeframe.
Results cannot be guaranteed, and EQU StreamZ should not replace veterinary diagnosis, treatment or rehabilitation.
What should I do if I haven't noticed any results?
First, check that the bands are correctly positioned, securely fitted and being worn consistently.
We recommend a minimum of 8 hours of daily wear, although many owners choose longer periods.
Remember that horses respond differently, and improvements may be subtle or difficult to assess objectively. Keeping a simple record of your horse's comfort, movement and daily routine can help you evaluate any changes over time.
If you are concerned about an ongoing health condition, consult your vet rather than delaying appropriate treatment.

Why are my EQU StreamZ bands slipping down my horse's legs?
Bands may slip if they are fitted too loosely, positioned incorrectly or placed over an area where the leg circumference changes significantly.
For a secure fit, the bands should sit comfortably against the leg without restricting movement or creating excessive pressure.
If your horse has swelling that subsequently reduces, the bands may become loose and require repositioning.
For turnout, we recommend positioning the bands above the fetlock joint, around the cannon bone.
Always check the fit regularly, particularly during the first few days of use.
Can EQU StreamZ bands be worn in muddy or wet conditions?

Should EQU StreamZ bands be worn above or below the fetlock?
Both positions are suitable, depending on your horse's routine.
Above the fetlock (cannon bone): Recommended for turnout and light exercise, where a more secure position is beneficial.
Below the fetlock (pastern): Our preferred position for horses resting, stabled or on box rest, where movement around the joint is reduced.
Always ensure the bands are fitted comfortably and checked regularly.
Can my horse wear EQU StreamZ bands overnight?
Yes. EQU StreamZ bands are suitable for overnight wear and can form part of a 24/7 routine.
For stabled horses, positioning the bands below the fetlock may be preferable, provided they remain secure and comfortable.
Regularly remove the bands to check the skin, clean away accumulated dirt and ensure they have not become too tight or loose.
Can horses wear EQU StreamZ bands while being ridden?
EQU StreamZ bands are primarily intended for use during rest and recovery rather than demanding exercise.
They may be worn during light exercise when correctly positioned above the fetlock and securely fitted.
We recommend removing them for faster work, jumping or more demanding activities where increased movement may cause the bands to shift.
Do EQU StreamZ bands need to be worn on all four legs?
No. EQU StreamZ bands are supplied as a pair and are designed to be worn on any two legs.
Our technology is designed to provide full-body coverage without requiring bands on all four legs.
Choose the most appropriate legs based on your horse's comfort, routine and any advice received from your veterinary professional.
Can I use the same EQU StreamZ bands on different horses?
Yes. EQU StreamZ bands can be transferred between horses, provided they fit correctly and are thoroughly cleaned between uses.
However, sharing one pair between several horses will naturally reduce the amount of time each horse wears them.
For owners wishing to maintain a consistent daily routine, having a dedicated pair for each horse may be more practical.
How should I clean my EQU StreamZ bands?
Regular cleaning helps maintain hygiene, comfort and the lifespan of your bands.
Remove the internal magnetic strips before washing the outer sleeves, following the care instructions supplied with your product.
Allow the sleeves to dry thoroughly before reassembling them, and check that the magnetic strips are correctly positioned inside.
Avoid allowing mud, grit or moisture to accumulate against your horse's skin for prolonged periods.
Can EQU StreamZ bands replace veterinary treatment?
No. EQU StreamZ bands are intended as a complementary product and should not replace professional veterinary assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
If your horse develops unexplained swelling, lameness, pain or other concerning symptoms, always seek appropriate veterinary advice.
